Karen is a licensed massage therapist and registered yoga teacher who combines the fluidity of Swedish massage with the healing benefits of Deep Tissue techniques to leave every client feeling better than when they arrived.  

Karen completed her initial massage training in 2015 from Acadia School of Massage and has furthered her study in the following:

Annual Conference Maine: AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association)

Thai Massage Level 1 with ShivaShakti Yoga School, Union, Maine

50 hour Subtle Body training at Laughing Lotus Yoga Studio, Manhattan

50 hour Hands on Assists training at Laughing Lotus Yoga Studio, Manhattan

Karen has been a student of yoga since 2001 and has been teaching since 2011.  She completed her initial 200 hour training at Soul Tree Yoga Studio in Lafayette, Colorado and loves pairing travel with the opportunity to train at a variety of studios throughout the country.  Through countless hours of practice and teaching Karen has refined her teaching style to offer alignment based, somatically informed classes that are light hearted and informative.  Karen is thrilled to be completing her 500 hour certification under the wisdom of Laughing Lotus Yoga Studio in Manhattan.  

Karen approaches yoga with the understanding that sh#@ happens and life can be hard.  As a country we are working harder and longer with less focus on taking care of ourselves.  Through the practices of massage, yoga, and mindful living, we become aware of our default tendencies and observe the subtleties of our body and breath so that we can move toward living with greater ease on and off the mat!

Schedule a private or small group session to work on what puzzles you about your body and practice.  Private or small group sessions can be vigorous vinyasa to work up a sweat, alignment based instruction to further understand your own practice or restorative sessions with assists to unwind and take care of yourself.


  • All necessary mats/props provided.  Wear comfortable clothes and be ready to bend, move, shake, smile:)

  • GENTLE YOGA- Fridays, 430-530 PM.  Drop in cost is $12/person

    • First Friday Seva Yoga- first Friday of each month, 430-530 pm, in place of regularly scheduled Gentle Yoga.  This class is donation based with 100% of money donated benefiting a local non profit in our community.  Since beginning in June 2017 we have raised $4,157 to further the reach of the following organizations:

      • Fri, Oct 5- DONATION YOGA, 430-530 @ Destination Health. No minimum donation, appropriate for everyone and we supply all necessary mats/props

      • Mondays June 25- Sept 12 Yoga By the Bay. Oceanfront yoga among the crashing waves and fresh ocean air. Mats/props provided. 2 opportunities- 730-830 @ Atlantic Oceanside (Bar Harbor) or 9-10 @ Bar Harbor Inn. Classes held Monday thru Saturday, $15 cash drop in. Appropriate for all levels
